A hoof knife is a precision tool and carbon steel is why. It takes a finer edge than stainless and it holds that edge through the resistance of sole and frog, which is exactly what you need when you are trimming away loose flaps rather than hacking at them.
Use it for the maintenance work between farrier visits: paring back a ragged frog, opening up a thrushy crevice so it can dry and breathe, tidying the sole so you can assess what is underneath.
Details
- Carbon steel blade
- Holds a fine working edge
- For frog trimming and sole maintenance
- Dry thoroughly after use, carbon steel will rust if left damp
If you are not confident with a hoof knife, learn it standing beside your farrier rather than alone. A conservative trim you repeat is always better than one deep cut you regret.
Fulfillment note: This product is fulfilled by Zendrop and ships directly from their warehouse. Please allow standard handling and transit times as outlined in our shipping policy.
